Spa and Hot Tub Hard Cover - How do I measure the cover with Cut Corners?

Important Note:

On square rectangle shapes with two cut or four cut corners, use the following to verify measurements.

Measure all dimensions as per the shape diagram (see diagrams at the end of this page).
The overall greatest dimensions are the most important to ensure the proper size. Then follow the steps below:

Square or Rectangle with two cut corners

#1 Multiply "B" X 0.707 = "G"
     "A" + "G" must equal "E" plus or minus 1".
#2 Multiply "D" X 0.707 = "H"
     "C" + "H" + "G" must equal "F" plus or minus 1".

IF #1 & #2 ARE BOTH OFF by over 1", re-measure.

IF #1 ONLY IS OFF, then "A" or "B" is wrong.

IF #2 ONLY IS OFF, then "C" or "F" is wrong.

IF after re-measuring all sides, and the formulas do not compute correctly, then it is possible that the cut corners are not on 45 degree angles.  If this is the case, then we will require a template in order to accurately cut your cover.  See Template Instructions below.

Square or rectangular with four cut corners

#1 Multiply "D" X 0.707 X 2 = "G"
     "A" - "G" must equal "C" plus or minus 1".
     "B" - "G" must equal "E" plus or minus 1".

IF after re-measuring all sides, and the formulas do not compute correctly, then it is possible that the cut corners are not on 45 degree angles.  If this is the case, then we will require a template in order to accurately cut your cover.  See Template Instructions below.

Spa Cover Template Instructions

For covers with cut corners that do not have 45 degree angles, or covers the have odd shapes, or covers were the measurements do not match the geometric formulas for the desired shape; a template is required to ensure an accurate result when producing the cover.

Instructions for making a template:

  1.  Purchase a piece of clear plastic from a local hardware, paint or retail store.  The plastic can be very thin, typically 2 to 4 mils.  A drop cloth for painting is an ideal choice, since you can purchase them in a small square size; typically 10’x10’ or 12’x12’.  It should cost approximately $2 to $3.  Make sure you select clear plastic.
  2. Unfold plastic provided.  Stretch across tub and either place something heavy on the corners (i.e. large stone, bricks, etc) or have others hold the plastic taunt so that the outside edge of the acrylic can be traced.  **It is very important that the plastic is kept taunt, or your template will not be accurate and your cover will not fit properly.
  3. Trace the outline with a black marker.
  4. Draw in your fold direction with a broken line such as - - - - - -.  If no fold is drawn in, we will cut your largest dimension in half.
  5. While the plastic is still out-stretched on the acrylic, write “TOP” on the top surface of the plastic so we know which side is which and your cover does not arrive upside down.
  6. Write your name, address, phone number, and order # on the plastic.
  7. Fold your plastic up and place in a large envelope.  Print your return address, add sufficient postage and mail to:
