The air purification units create ozone by taking the part of the air we breathe and passing an electrical charge across it. The O2 molecules are split to O1 molecules, which then recombine to form the O3 ozone molecule. This process has been in use for close to 100 years, primarily in water treatment. Many major cities use ozone today, the largest in the world being Dallas, Texas.
