The Angle for panels is the Latitude where the system will be located plus or minus 15 degrees (Example: 27 degree Latitude could have a rack angle between 12 and 42 degrees).
The greater the angle, the better the performance will be in the colder winter months. However, the higher you increase the angle, the higher the back of the rack is off the ground; so usually you compromise and pick some lower amount – mostly because a very high rack is harder to build while maintaining structural integrity and more susceptible to wind damage.
A typical rack with 4ftx12ft panels would be 4 to 6 feet high. For example, a typical 6/12 pitch would have an angle of approximately 25 degrees, and be approximately 4 feet high.
